Why This Work Matters So Personally
Heroes for Children was born from heartbreak —
and built on hope.
In the early 2000s, two little girls, Taylor Anne Brewton and Allison “Allie” Leigh Scott, bravely battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia. They were full of strength, light, and love - and their legacies live on through every act of support we provide.
Their mothers, Larissa and Jenny, knew firsthand what families endure: missed work, overdue bills, long hospital stays, and overwhelming fear. They also knew that community could be a lifeline. Together, they created Heroes for Children to make sure no family faces pediatric cancer alone.
Each family we serve is eligible to receive up to $900 in financial assistance per application, with funds delivered within one week of approval. When you give monthly, you become part of that ongoing lifeline—delivering help, hope, and dignity to families exactly when they need it most.

"My daughter was a healthy girl from one moment to the next. She was diagnosed with childhood medulloblastoma. It was very difficult for me to receive the news that she was going to have emergency surgery. It was even worse when they gave me the diagnosis since I am alone with my children and them. They only have me and I had to leave my job and dedicate myself to taking care of the girl. Thanks to God who is giving me the strength and Balentia to handle things. I also give thanks to HEROES for Children for their amazing support during our journey. May God bless everyone."
