A few weeks ago, a request came across our desk from a North Texas social worker. She asked if we might be able to provide a small amount of funding to help one of her young patients, 13-year-old Zoe, celebrate a quinceañera.
Zoe, who is bravely facing a terminal bone cancer diagnosis, had one dream: to celebrate her quinceañera, a meaningful tradition that honors a young girl’s coming of age in Hispanic culture. But her diagnosis meant she would likely not make it to her 15th birthday.
When our team read her story, we were deeply moved. We knew immediately that this couldn’t just be a standard milestone request. After one phone call to a local corporate partner, we made the decision: we would go beyond funding—we would host the event and do everything we could to make her dream come true.
On Saturday, June 21, Zoe’s dream quinceañera came to life at The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and love as Zoe arrived in a stretch limo, glowing in a custom-designed pink gown. From the moment she stepped into the venue, surrounded by family and friends, it was clear this would be a day to remember.
A DJ played her favorite music, a beautifully decorated ballroom honored her culture and spirit, and the love in the room was palpable. Every detail, from the decorations to the traditions, was thoughtfully planned by our incredible lead volunteers Jenn Copeland and Crystal Velasquez, with the help of generous donors and a group of McKesson employees who came together to give Zoe the celebration she deserved.
This wasn’t just a party. It was a moment of light in the midst of darkness. A reminder of how powerful it is when people come together for one purpose: to bring joy, comfort, and love to a child who needs it most.
To everyone who gave their time, their resources, or simply their love—thank you. You gave Zoe and her family a memory they’ll carry forever.
